I worked with Gill at the co-op department store in Bedford and then at Tesco on Cardington Road in the eighties and nineties. She was a wonderful, caring , genuine person. I was a young gay man at the time (a period in UK history when it was very difficult to be gay), but Gill accepted people for who they were, not what they were. She was an inspiration and always made me smile in the face of adversity. I wish I could have seen you one more time. Rest in peace my dear friend. Nigel Woodford
